Children’s Ministry Update

Children’s Ministry at Living Hope is an exciting place to be right now!  We had a great meeting Sunday evening and I want to let you know about some of the things we talked about.

  1.  Wed. Nights are going to be Awesome!  We are launching a new Wednesday Night programming starting on Sept. 3rd and it is called Summit.  This year we will cover who God is and how great He is.  There are several things that will be new to Wednesday Night that you might want to know.  First, We will be expanding the ages that we will be including. Summit will start at age 2 and go through 5th grade.  We will still have child care for birth – up to 2 yrs old.  Second, we will have music, interactive lessons, and lots and lots of fun.  I would like to encourage you to come out even if you haven’t been coming on Wed. Nights.  I promise, your kid will love it!
  2. We will be making a specific focus on making our Children’s ministry a safe place for Children to learn about Christ.  There are two main parts to this.  First physically we will be moving some Sunday School classes/Children’s church classes around.  The 4yr.-K class and the 1st-3rd grade classes (both in Sunday School and Children’s Church) will be moved away from the front doors and to the downstairs.  This will make sure our children are out of the main flow of traffic in and out of the building.  We will be leaving our nursery in that hallway but we will be securing the door to both of those rooms with a numeric keypad that will be locked and secured during Sunday School and worship times. The Sunday School and Children’s Church classes will move into their new rooms September 3rd.  Second, we will start requiring background checks for all of our children’s ministry workers.  The goal will be to have those done and completed by the end of the year and then this will be a prerequisite for all volunteers from here on out.  Last, we will be separating 0-2yrs old from 2-3 years old during Sunday School and during Worship nursery.  The 2-3s will stay where they are and now the smaller room on the other side will be used exclusively for 0-2 yrs. The new 0-2yrs Sunday school class will start this Sunday and we will begin separating the two for worship starting Sept. 10th.
  3. We still need help!!  Our volunteers have been top-notch!  They are working hard to make sure children have a great time and are learning about Jesus.  But we are spread pretty thin.  We have several people who are double and triple serving.  Teaching Sunday School every week, volunteering in the nursery once a month and some even teaching every week on Wednesday night. So one way we obviously need anyone that would be willing and able to help to sign up. You can do this by sending me an email (jhussung@lhbchoptown.com)  We hope you will pray if/how you might join us in serving our children.  The second way you can help is we need some stuff.  Below is a link to a document with the specific needs of the Children’s ministry.  There are toys, furniture, and supplies on the list.  If you have any of these things that are in good working order and you don’t need them any more we would love it if you could donate it.

Supply List

I hope you are as excited as I am about what is happening in the Living Hope Baptist Church Children’s Ministry.  Please be in prayer that God will move in a mighty way in the hearts and lives of our children and their families!
